About Ngākau Collective

My Why

Before Ngākau Collective existed, I spent a long time searching for the missing piece.

I followed astrology, numerology, readings, courses, and anything that helped me better understand myself. Each path shaped me in some way, but none of them felt like the whole answer.

Over time, one thread kept returning. I was always drawn to reflection, compassion, and walking beside others as they made sense of their own experiences.

When my role was made redundant, something shifted. I stopped searching outward and began listening inward. Ngākau Collective grew from that turning point.

This mahi is my way of creating space for others to pause, reconnect, and move forward with more clarity, confidence, and heart.

Ngākau Mission

To guide and support self-discovery, reflection, and reconnection through heart-led approaches grounded in lived experience and a Te Ao Māori framework.

Ngākau Vision

To nurture a compassionate, empowered community where people feel connected to who they are, move with clarity, and carry that connection into their whānau and wider world.

Ngākau Belief

Ngākau Collective is a reminder of what we already carry within us.
Our rhythm is ancient. Our truth is waiting. We are never out of alignment, only out of practice.

Here, we remember who we are, grounded in truth, guided by quiet knowing, and supported by the wisdom of our ngākau.

About the Founder

Kia ora, I’m Verna Maihi, the wāhine behind Ngākau Collective.

Ngākau began through my own journey of self-discovery, reflection, and reconnection. It grew from the understanding that healing is not always about becoming someone new. Sometimes it is about creating enough space to remember who you are beneath the noise.

I bring together lived experience, heart-led guidance, creative expression, and a deep respect for Te Ao Māori frameworks. My mahi is grounded in reflection, gentle structure, and the belief that clarity often arrives when we slow down enough to listen.

Ngākau Collective is my way of offering that space to others.

A place to pause.
A place to reconnect.
A place to keep going, with your ngākau as the guide.
